Your Compliance Summary

You selected: Interstate and For-Hire Operation. This means you plan to cross state lines and get paid to transport goods or passengers for others.

To legally begin these operations, you must file for:

  1. MC Number: This is your federal operating authority, giving you permission to haul freight or passengers for pay across state lines.
  2. BOC-3 Filing: This designates a legal representative in each state you operate in, and it's required to activate your MC Number.

Both are mandatory for your trucking authority to become active and for you to operate legally. We'll ensure these are filed correctly so you can start operating smoothly.

Your Compliance Summary

You selected: Interstate and Private Operation. This means you plan to cross state lines to transport your own goods or company property—not for-hire.

To legally begin these operations, you must file for:

  1. USDOT Number: This registers your company with the FMCSA and is required for tracking safety and compliance.

No MC Number or BOC-3 Filing is needed for private carriers operating under these conditions. We'll ensure your USDOT registration is filed correctly so you can start operating smoothly.

Your Compliance Summary

You selected: Intrastate and For-Hire Operation. This means you plan to operate only within a single state but will get paid to transport goods or passengers for others.

To legally begin these operations, you must file for:

  1. USDOT Number: This registers your company with the FMCSA and is required for tracking safety and compliance.

In most cases, an MC Number or BOC-3 Filing is not needed for intrastate, for-hire carriers, unless specific state regulations require it. We'll ensure your USDOT registration is filed correctly so you can start operating smoothly within your state.

Important: MC Number Required

You've selected Interstate and For-Hire operation, meaning you plan to haul loads across state lines for payment.

To operate legally under these conditions, both a USDOT Number and an MC Number are mandatory. The MC Number is your federal operating authority for for-hire interstate transport.

Please ensure both USDOT and MC Number are selected to proceed.

Heads Up: BOC-3 Filing is Needed to Activate Your Authority

You've unselected BOC-3, which is required to activate your MC Number (operating authority).

If you handle this filing later, you can continue. However, to ensure your MC Number becomes active without delay, we strongly recommend having us file your BOC-3 now.

Please check the BOC-3 box above if you'd like us to handle this critical step for you.

Important: USDOT Number Required

Based on your selections, a USDOT Number is mandatory to operate your trucking business legally. This number officially registers your company with the government.

Do I Need UCR?

If your company operates a commercial vehicle that crosses state lines, you are generally required to file a UCR (Unified Carrier Registration)—it's a federal mandate.

You are exempt from UCR only if BOTH of the following are true:

  • Your business is based in one of these non-participating states: Arizona, D.C., Florida, Hawaii, Maryland, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, or Wyoming.
  • And you ONLY operate within these same states and do not cross into other states.

If you're based outside these states, or travel beyond them, UCR registration is mandatory.

UCR Fee Structure – 2025

Your UCR registration fee is based on the number of commercial motor vehicles you operate in interstate or international commerce within the U.S.(this includes vehicles operating between the U.S. and Canada/Mexico):

Number of Vehicles  2025 UCR Fee
0–2 trucks$46
3–5 trucks$138
6–20 trucks$276
21–100 trucks$963
101–1,000 trucks$4,592
1001 and above$44,836

Important: UCR Filing Required

Based on your selections (operating across state lines), you must file a UCR (Unified Carrier Registration). This is a federal compliance mandate.

Failure to register can result in fines or operational delays.

Please ensure the UCR option is selected above to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.
